Yes, I have redesigned my blog and website once again (thats twice in 3 months). The reason for this was that while my last site looked pretty, I was getting some complaints about performance, loading times etc. and while I want the site to look good, I won’t sacrifice function to form. The final straw for me was when I got this email from Greg
Brent, I was recently visiting your website (the newly designed) and I thought I let you know that it is extremely slow. Nothing really works for me. Menus are slowly appearing and when I select seascapes, for example, the page loads with thumbnail but it takes forever…. So, your site looks nice but behaves really slow. I used to read your post at least once a weak, if there was something new, but now I don't even fell like visiting your site anymore because it just takes too long to see anything, nothing loads correctly, and it sometimes freezes. Some other people may feel the same way. I thought I made you aware of this problem…. – Gregory B
So Greg and I got into a discussion about the site etc. and Greg also made some recommendations for providers of WordPress themes that he has found excellent. So I took his advice and re-skinned my site yesterday. I’ve still got a bit of tweaking to do, but the site is sure a lot easier to use from an administration perspective. The last site was clunky to post, whereas this one is a breeze.
So I hope you like the new site, and I hope it performs better for all of you as well.

This seems to perform better than the previous one Brent.
One of my pet hates is slow sites. If i visit a site and the images take too long to load I skip the site. I think a lot of people do the same thing. I’d be interested too hear about wordpress themes as well, might drop you a line.

I really liked your last iteration Brent – it was a standout site for me (it was on my “copy-this-site-when-I-have-my-own-website” list. I never noticed any performance issues from this end. I kind of miss it

Yeah I liked the look of my old site, and it performed well for me too, but it is clear that some people really had problems with the performance.
It was very clunky to post to the blog… problems with image sizes and also I had to manually set the background every time to avoid the full-screen slideshow.

Hi Brent – much prefer this look. I’ve been wanting to reskin my site for a while and had a look at the themes you were previously using. The first thing I noticed was how slow they were compared to my current one – definitely a deal breaker for me
I do not know if it’s just me or if everybody else experiencing problems with your blog. It appears as though some of the text in your content are running off the screen. Can somebody else please provide feedback and let me know if this is happening to them too? This may be a problem with my web browser because I’ve had this happen previously. Kudos
