I love photography too much to make it my profession.
When I pick up my camera, it’s because I want to… not because I need to.
The purpose of this web site is to share with other photographers my love and knowledge of photography.
Personally I think there is too much emphasis on photography competitions and not enough on collaboration and sharing of photographic knowledge, techniques, locations etc.
My vision for this website is to build a wonderful repository of knowledge that both experienced and new photographers find useful. The beauty of knowledge is that I can share it with everyone without worrying about losing it. In fact I usually find it’s the opposite… the more knowledge I share, the more people seem to share with me.
I have been in love with photography for over 30 years now. Having a father who loved photography gave me access to both knowledge and equipment from an early age.
With the advent of digital SLRs, my love for photography has been re-ignited with even more intensity.
As I have continued to develop my photography I moved from Landscapes and Seascapes into long exposure photography which inevitably led to night photography. The learning curve was challenging and there didn’t seem to be a lot of organised knowledge to accelerate my journey.. so I embarked on my own journey of trial and error.
It didn’t take long before I was drawn to the idea of painting landscapes at night with light. However there is even less information written about this topic. So after much experimentation and trial and error I started to get some interesting results.
I loved the control that artificial light bought to my night scenes, and it didn’t take long to start venturing into the world of Off Camera Flash. While I haven’t enjoyed photographing people in the past, Off Camera Flash unleashed a new world of creative image making. I love it.
If you find the resources here useful, please drop me a note and say hi.
